foodie

i fell in love with cooking, not too long ago.
i think it has to do with spending much time at Granddad and Grandma's.
i watched grandma put tons of love and time into savory cuisine.
i helped granddad make the most delectable baked goods.
but it has recently been rekindled or cultivated by smitten kitchen.
omg, this woman divulges the most incredible recipes.

beware: the current post on smitten kitchen may just make you drop everything in order to indulge in its yummy looking and tasting properties. definitely not one that will help with weight control!

i made mushroom lasagna because the pictures did the dish more than adequate justice. i was pleasantly surprised when i went weak in the knees after tasting the bechamel (french for white sauce). even my roommate who doesn't like mushrooms fell in love with the lasagna.

no need to swallow failure

preface: i am in no way a sports follower. while i played sports from elementary school to high school, i'm not the sort that follows a team. in fact, i think an overly ridiculous amount of money goes into sports.  i think my attitude may have something to do with living with all girls. :) what can i say, i would rather watch a movie than watch a game.

but, i happened to be watching an interview with the giants closer, brian wilson because i heard someone mention how funny he is. and while watching i was inspired by his words:

accepting failure is not something you need to swallow. - brian wilson, giants closer

ain't that true even though i may be failing a test tonight ;-) lol this quote inspires me to work harder at preparation so that failure becomes defeat-able.

rubber duckie, you're the one. you make bath time so much fun ♫

balneotheraphy: therapeutic bathing

ooh la la, time to take baths more often. cuz it's not just about getting clean. apparently, it's been practiced since the days of the ancient Greeks and Romans to increase health and heal ailments.

the yoga journal wrote: "Like yoga, it's also a great way to melt away stress and bring the body back into a more balanced state."

a soak in the tub = blood vessels dilate, circulation increases, muscles relax, and nervous system chills out.

film class

i get college credit for watching movies and they're way good movies! To Be and To Have, a documentary about a teacher in France who mirrors my mom's teaching talents and The General are two of my favorites so far.

check out this short film about validation. pretty clever, i think.

i am not my body

i seized the opportunity to watch NieNie speak at BYU. it was called Recapturing Beauty. she spoke beautifully about inward appearance mattering more than outward. there was so many people, i had to stand for an hour. but it was worth it. fyi, Nie survived a near fatal plane crash with over 80 percent of her body burned.

pure genius

love this play on tap dancing! tap dancing with the hands = ingenious and spontaneous. not to mention this is one awesome song!

bumped my head and couldn't get up in the morning

i've always wanted a goose egg smack dab in the middle of my forehead...NOT!
